Alicia Fortaleza
COO
Alicia Fortaleza is a registered nurse by profession. Upon her grandfather’s recommendation and her interest in travel, she took up nursing and graduated from one of the top universities in the Philippines. She continued her post-graduate studies here in the U.S. where she completed her masters and doctorate degrees in Health Care Administration.
She worked at two San Francisco Department of Public Health hospitals, mainly in Nursing Administration, for 35 years. Her greatest and historical contribution in Nursing was when she was chosen to be part of a task force made up of 25, very select, registered nurses from all over the State by the California Board of Registered Nursing to review and update the RN board exam to how it is today.
She retired early so she can fulfill her dream of traveling the world. When she became a single mother, to provide for her family, she started a business in residential care homes for the mentally challenged. This was when she realized she can raise three children on her own and be successful as an entrepreneur at the same time. She went on and opened five more homes after that.
She was awarded one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the US by the Filipina Women’s Network in 2012. She is currently a board member of the South San Francisco Golden Gate Lions Club and advisor for the Philippine Nurses Association of Northern California and the University of the Philippines Nursing Alumni Association.
