For this month we are featuring another one of our very best caregivers who has been serving as a 1Heart Caregiver for nearly a decade. Although she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in High School Education she realized that being a caregiver was the right profession for her when she began helping her aging elderly parents; bringing them to doctor’s visits and for hospital care. “It was from these experiences that I felt that the caregiving career is rewarding because I learned a lot” says Rose.
She feels blessed to have a loving husband and 4 children who all are college graduates. Although they are not involved or are working in the health care profession her family supports her career decision as a 1Heart Caregiver. To her, caregiving presents a fulfilling endeavor as she is able to do her best in all the various tasks that are required for her to complete. “I have varied experiences as a caregiver. Each client/patient requires a certain level of care that you have to provide.”
Having completed a course as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Rose is very well-equipped to handle her care recipients need other than just companionship. She is very well trained in G-tube feeding, blood sugar checking, breathing treatment, portable oxygen use, and hoyer lift for transfers. “1Heart Caregiver Services is the best home care agency that I have been a part of. It cares not only about their clients/patients but also its caregivers. The system is highly professionalized.” She adds.
Her fellow caregiver who is also another of 1Heart’s finest, Helen Balabala admires her for being a great colleague with an excellent work ethic. “I have worked with Rose in the same facility for 8 years now. I look up to her like an older sister who gives me very good advice and makes sure that the goals for the client are a priority. I can say she is very reliable and is one of the best caregivers of 1Heart. The care for the resident or the patient always comes first and we work hand in hand as a team to achieve that.” says Helen.
When asked about what message she can impart to her fellow caregivers, Rose adds “Whatever I do I follow this simple rule. I have to love what I do and I do it the best I can.”
