A caring mother of two sons, Teresita Reyes has longed for a better life for her family. For a while she lived away from her husband who had migrated 2 years ahead of them. Being away from her husband was extremely difficult for her as she wasn’t able to bear the loneliness. On March of 2001, Teresita and her kids finally decided to move to the US.
While living in the States, she had a longing for caring for others though she did not finish a healthcare-related degree. The reason she chose caregiving as a career is simply because of her love and desire to help people in need.
“I do not regret every moment of being a caregiver. The profession not only fulfills my love of caring for others but has proved to be very rewarding. Caregiving has not only given me the chance to fulfill my calling but has also given me an opportunity to be able to provide education for my kids. Both of them have now graduated high school. The elder of the two is now working as a Sous Chef in a hotel in Santa Monica while the other is now studying to be an aviation mechanic.” says Teresita.
When asked why she chose to become a 1Heart Caregiver she says that she finds the staff very pleasing and accommodating. “I’m so happy to be part of this great agency because they take good care of their employees.”
Her advice sums up what is also essential to the profession. “Working with a lot of love and patience for a patient is the key in becoming an outstanding caregiver. I feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity to care and serve the elderly.”
“I love Tess. Tess is great! She is my very first caregiver and she’s been with me since the very beginning, since 2011. She’s been like a sister to me. She cooks and she is a great baker.” – Peggy Burgess
For being one of 1Heart’s best, Teresita Reyes deserves to be featured in this month’s Caregiver Spotlight.
